Garrison Diversion Conservancy District
In the mid 1950's, North Dakota organized the Garrison Diversion Conservancy District to support and administer the Garrison Diversion Unit as part of the Pick-Sloan Missouri Basin program. The original grand plan was authorized by Congress in 1944 as a way to control an manage the water from the Missouri River.
Garrison Diversion still revolves around the creation and completion of a state-of-the-art delivery system to provide reliable, high-quality, affordable water to the areas of need across the state of North Dakota. Letting North Dakota take responsibility for its future is the heart and soul of the Garrison Diversion effort.
Headquarters are located 1 1/2 miles north of Carrington on US Highway 281. Visitors are welcome.
